The start of our expansion! Demolition cleared the way, and our team did an excellent job with the footing and rebar installation. Despite being close to the existing structure, the foundation pour went smoothly. We’re locked in and ready to vertical!
This project phase focused on the initial site preparation and foundation work required to extend the building footprint on multiple sides.
- Targeted Demolition: The existing pavement was saw-cut and broken. Foundations for a previous solarium were removed to clear the zone for new structural load points.
- Excavation and Rebar Preparation: Trenches were excavated for the new continuous footings. Grade beams and footing rebar were fabricated and tied to engineer specifications to support the new walls.
- Footing and Foundation Pour: Concrete was poured into the trenches to form the base footings. Rebar dowels were left projecting to tie into the next vertical phase.
- Slab Preparation and Pour: The existing ground was prepared and graded. New main slabs were framed, reinforced with mesh, and poured to provide a level slab-on-grade for the expansion areas. This included framing for new linear features.
- Structural Connection (I-Beam): A structural steel I-beam was integrated and connected (welded) into the new foundation system, providing essential support and tying the new structure to the old. This demonstrates heavy load transfers in the expansion plan.
